My name is Sunny Lee and I am a labor consultant.
If you, as a foreign employer or manager, ever tried, you will know that it is very difficult to find good information on Korean labor laws and labor relations written in English. This blog aims at filling the gap by providing information on Korean labor laws and practices in English.
This blog has nothing to do with the Korean government or any organizations for protection of foreign workers’ labor rights. I used to work for an employers’ association and international cooperation departments of several NGOs that were not related to labor issues. I am mainly interested in providing information to foreign businesses who are or will be operating in Korea.
If you are a foreign worker looking for sympathetic and detailed answers to your questions, you are in the wrong place. I might answer some of such questions but will not be of decisive help to you because I am just a BLOGGER not the government authority in charge of sorting out labor issues for foreign and local workers. You can try contacting the labor ministry of Korea for labor law counselling at this phone number. 031-345-5000. English speaking staff there may be able to help you. Or visit Q&A forum of the ministry by clicking here.
